The national capitol area cake show will be held in march and I would love to attend and take classes and see all the contest entries. But I'm a little intimidated because it seems like all the attendees are entering cakes for judging. I'm not sure I'm up to that, especially when I have no idea what the level of expectation is. I thought about entering the Cupcake Division, but even then, I have no idea what to expect. Can anyone tell me what to expect from an ICES cake show? And are these cupcakes done like in Hello Cupcake or are they classier? Are they decorated with a bunch of sugar art on top?

And I could probably enter intermediate division with cakes, but I have no idea what kind of design... The whole thing is just so overwhelming.

you can attend without entering - lots of people do. It's a lot of fun - lots of informational sessions and lots of cakes to look at!
