Hello Awesome cake centrics icon_biggrin.gif

I am seriously considering starting up my own cupcake business and was wondering from all of your experience if I should start out my business from home before I go out and lease a space in a strip mall, the problem is that I live in a state where it is not permitted to prepare food at home, so I would have to rent a state licensed kitchen every time I want to legally sell my cupcakes. Also, I am wondering what are the most "must have" items I should buy or invest in for my operation. Any other tips and help would be so much appreciated! I am so terrified to sink in all my savings into an actual business (I am such a noob) icon_redface.gif without hearing from people who have ventured into the field. At the same time a lot of internet research about this issue is saying that it is best to start by establishing word of mouth, and start small....like from home??? What should I do?

I linked to some good articles on the third page. Also, pay close attention to Kara's (costumeczar) posts.
