I need to decorate a few layers of cake with fondant but was told that the best cakes to decorate with fondant is heavy cake. Every time I post here a question I rarely get responses I don't know if it's that I'm doing something wrong.

Hi,

Do you mean A "dense" cake?

WASC is a dense cake BUT a very moist cake too. It will hold up to fondant as well as carving too.

I have covered plain jane cake mixes with fondant and haven't had a problem, so I don't make a special cake for fondant.

The only time you would have an issue is if you have a very light and delicate cake.
