I am trying to make a large cupcake-shaped cake. The bottom of the cake is fine but the rounded top of the 'cupcake' is not working out! I can't get it to form correctly or stay in place- I'm not using a mold. Please help!

It's one of the most difficult things I had ever carved. I did a giant cupcake a few months ago and have the step by step photos on my blog. I put the cake up on a turntable, stacked it 3 cakes high and carved it little by little while spinning it around to be sure I kept the swirl proportional. It took lots of patience but I did get it in the end. Good luck.
