I am making my first tapered cake tier where I am not carving it. It will be the bottom tier I am using a 8, 9 and 10 inch cake. I will be using a very soft pudding filling. A 6 inch top tier will go on top with the same filling. My question is do I need to put support on the bottom tier. For example do I use the regular bubble tea straws for the top 6 inch tier or do I put another set to support the 10 inch on top of the 8 and 9 inch? and then another set to support the top 6 inch tier. The bottom tier will be over 4 inches tall. thank you!

I've successfully stacked 3 layers without extra support, but I wasn't using a soft filling and they were all the same diameter. I don't think it would hurt you to use extra support. Always better to have it and not need it than vice versa...

I think the only support you need is between the two tiers. I don't think you anymore in the actual tiers for support.
