Hi,

I have to ice 1200 mini cupcakes for my husbands caninie clients.

I plan to do a simpleone layer swirl to the edge on them. Does anyone have any idea (roughly) on how many cups of icing I would need. If it helps I plan to use simple shortning and sugar. Also, whta size tip do you use for minis.

I just need an idea as I need to go shopping for ingrediants and would prefere to do one trip.

Thanks

I can't tell you in cups since I work by weight, but I can tell you that I would have to use around 22lbs of icing for 1200 mini cupcakes. That would be using an open rose type swirl where you work from the centre to the edge. If you were doing a regular swirl it would be around double that amount just to be sure you had enough.

I second Dayti's suggestion go by weight.
Try icing one cc take off the icing/ the swirl with a spatula, and place it on a scale, for example lets say 50g x 1200, I think that's the best way to determine how much icing you will need.

Thanks for response. I work with weight too, so that works great for me.
