If you make your own MMF does it work the same as the store bought fondant? Is is better for just covering the cakes or does it work well with making items to put on cakes

I use MMF all the time.I use it to cover cakes sometimes but usually use it to make figures.. I have never used the store bought stuff so really can't tell you which is better but I find MMF easy to work with..

MMF is easy to make, cheaper then store bought- and tastes much yummier! I only use homemade fondant, too. You can use it for everything - but if you need something sturdier, you can always add tylose to it or mix with gumpaste.

I have tried making it before but it seems to tear very easily. Not sure what I might be doing wrong. The taste is really good though.
