I have to do a wedding cake with colors silver and pink. The customer wants silver swirls on sides of cake. The cake icing is buttercream. Any ideas what I should use for the silver? Thanks.

Try airbrushing it
If you don't have an airbrushing machine, you can buy a silver spray can, it may not be as effective but it does the work.

There is a swirl patchwork cutter. I used it on this cake

You could use gray fondant and dust with silver luster dust.
