I have a simple fondant cake to make for christmas and the customer wants snow flakes.... I'm having a hard time (of course, I'm a newbie) using it.

I roll out the fondant, place the punch cutter, press down on the cutter then use the punch button. why won't it come off completely from the rest of the fondant? any tricks? thanks!

Dust the cutter with cornstarch first.

Make sure your fondant isn't too thick and after you press down on the cutter slide it back and forth a few times on the counter to make sure it is cut completely through.

Is it possible that you purchased the generic snowflake cutters which are not JEM..I did and they are horrible..Much like you described...The plunger wouldn't plung and it was stucky...Bummer..
