I recently made a cake using pink SMBC. It is the second pink cake I've made and I had the same problem I had on my first cake. After icing the sides and chilling the cake I bring it back out to go over the chilled cake and smooth the sides again. But, the pink coloring gets very dark in spots when I do that! Also, as it warms up it can get spots of dark pink coloring. Eventually it evens out, mostly. Is it that I don't have the pink mixed in well enough? Is this a known problem with pink coloring? Maybe I have a bad bottle of coloring? It's americolor I think. I'd love any suggestions/thoughts/ideas.
