I'm short on time, so I thought I'd ask here before I experiment (I.e. Fail) with it on the day I make the cake. Eek!

I'm making a 3-d Sonic the Hedgehog shape cake. I have Wilton colors, but also have a cake supply store fairly local if I must buy something else.

I don't have the $ to buy premade fondant this time around, so that's not an option.

Also, will the blue end up tasting wonky because of the amount of coloring?

When I have not wanted to waste my fondant just pull a little bit of fondant off and them color that. I would think that royal blue would work.
