Hello everyone! I need some help...I've tried different cream cheese frosting's recipes for my cupcakes but I'm not able to find one that is not too sweet and easy to pipe. Someone have any suggestion or recipe ?

1 block of cream cheese, 1/2 stick of unsalted butter, 4-5 cups powdered sugar, pinch of salt. tsp of vanilla... I don't think its too sweet.
Sometimes I even put a pinch of cinnamon.

Agreed. My recipe is similar to this and it is not too sweet and people love it.

Cinnamon is a nice touch. Sometimes I add a hint of lemon along with vanilla extract to keep people guessing!

Love Georgetown Cupcake's recipe:

1/2 stick butter
6 oz cream cheese
1/4 tsp vanilla
4 cups powdered sugar

It's perfect!

I use 1 stick butter, 8 oz cream cheese, 1 lb confectioners sugar and a splash of vanilla. Creamy and yummy!

Does the frosting need to be refrigerated?

Yes.

I make the frosting, immediately use and then place the cake in the fridge. Cream cheese based frosting cakes should be placed in the fridge.

I use Edna's crusting cream cheese frosting & love it!

She also has a non crusting recipe, but I never tried it:

You should research cream cheese recipes that crust if you want a firmer cream cheese frosting. Based on your original post many of us thought you waned a basic cream cheese frosting. There are several good ones on this site to check out. Especially the ones that use meringue powder!

Happy baking.
