I need a recipe for a sugar cookie that is soft but still keeps its shape when using cookie cutters. All of my recipes that dont spread end up being really hard. Any ideas would be awesome! I like to use royal icing just fyi.

The NFSC recipe on here doesn't spread a bit! It stays pretty soft too, especially if you roll your cookies fairly thick. I aim for about 3/8". I just wish I could find a way to keep them tasting as fresh as they do when they're first made!

I do the NFSC recipe and I omit the baking powder. I also freeze my cookie for about 7mnts after I cut them. They won't spread at all and come out perfect.
Good luck!
