my daughter wants a Rapunzel Tower cake for her birthday... I looked at lots of ideas and my goal is to make the sheet cake and then the tower out of rice krispies over PVC pipe... I made a practice one, and it turned out fairly well, i used cake circles and molded rice krispies into small round pans for the top of the tower... i put a rubber band below the cake circle thing, then just shaped rice krispies on the rest of the pipe... and the top stayed up, but the rest of the rice krispies slid down the PVC pipe, even in the fridge a bit... how do I make it stick? i want to make another attempt before her party in a few weeks...

I would try packing the rkt more densely, that way the top ones can't go anywhere. I don't think a little buttercream around the PVC would hurt either. Personally I'd use a thick wooden dowel, as the sugar would have better luck sticking to a more porous material. Hope that helps?
