How Much Would A 8" And 12" Square Cake Feed?

I am making a baby shower cake and need to know how much an 8 and 12" cake will feed.

do you use same portion amounts for wedding and bithday party? I would assume so and then if someone wants more they can always have seconds, rather than people leaving unwanted cake...

I use the same serving size for every cake I do. To me a 1x2x4 slice of cake is plenty cake, and cake isn't something they have to eat until they are full.

If people want to cut larger slices they can or if they want to order extra cake they can, but I still base the price off the 1x2x4 serving size.
