I did not sell my cakes prior to the cottage food law passing in Texas. I just did stuff for friends and family. Today I completed/sold my first legal cake as a home baker.

I am so excited It was for a friend and she didn't have a problem with my pricing at all. It's an 8 inch cake, Mimosa flavor (which qualifies as an upcharge in my pricing because of the champagne). I charged $70 for the cake.
The cakes turned out well but I had a few issues smoothing my buttercream. I hope the cake is busy enough that the cake muggles don't notice the imperfections I see.
Special shout out to Jaime3697 for the awesome design inspiration and to Sugar Shack for the great Boxes and Bows DVD so I was able to make my first two toned bow.
Happy Happy Home Baker...that's me!
Sillywabbitz, what a perfect creation to have in your portfolio as your first LEGAL cake--WELL DONE. Well done also for charging $70--that cake is worth every penny.
Thank you so much everyone. Apti it was so hard to charge a friend my "price" but I worked really hard on my pricing and I promised myself I would stick to it. I'm lucky to have friends and family who understand the time and passion that goes into caking.
