I can't seem to get the strawberry filling to stay on the cake......I put a border around the cake then add my filling. The filling is not higher than my border. After I put the 2nd layer on the filling oozes out & in some places it slides out the side right through the border. Should I be using royal icing in lieu of buttercream? Can anyone assist me on this?????

Could you share your filling recipe (or what type of prepared filling) you use?

This is the one that I use and I have never had any problems. I even add a layer of sliced strawberries. If adding berries you need to make sure to place the cut berries on paper towels to remove as much juice as possible before adding to the cake. http://cakecentral.com/recipes/7587/strawberries-n-cream-mousse
