I have a cake order and the customer wants a woman riding a bike on the cake. She gave me a picture of the bike that she wants it to look like. I'm not sure especially how to do the wheels and tires and how to make it stand up on the cake being that it will be so thin and having a gumpaste person on top makes me think it will fall over even easier. Has anyone made anything like this before?

I recently had a similar request. Unfortunately no matter what I tried I couldn't get a bicycle to hold it's fine shape. I ended up buying a chocolate mould which was actually on a plaque and found a tiny silicone bike mould and made heaps of tiny bikes for all over the cake and mini cakes. You might be able to model a gumpaste bike if you could lay it flat but then you wouldn't be able to put a figure on top. sorry, I can't be of more help!
