Hey y'all,

I want to make a cake where the bottom tier looks like a package with the fondant "paper" torn open on the top so that the baseball "present" looks like it is coming out of the top of the box.

How do I do the flaps of torn fondant around the ball? If I cover the cake and then slash the fondant to peel it back, it will have BC on the flaps.

Do I put down a layer of fondant and then cover the cake & cut for the tears?

Do I cover the cake normally and then make irregular triangles of fondant to attach on top to look like the torn paper?

I've tried searching for tutorials but everything I've found is on how to FIX torn fondant.

thanks
Kristy

You can just wipe the buttercream off the fondant.
