Making Fondant/gumpaste Stand Straight Up

I have been "hired" to do my first cake for a non-family member (2nd cake total lol). It's for a good friend at work's best friend as a favor to my co-worker I agreed to do the cake as long as she buys everything because I still need practice. Anyway this is for a 30th b-day... female and I was thinking of doing a monogram but I was wondering how to get it to stand straight up on the cake like in the pic (link below). Thanks for advice icon_smile.gif

Cut it out and let it dry. It will work best if you either add about 50% gumpaste, or simply make it all from gumpaste.
