I'm starting up my business, have a name picked out and ready to file for my Doing Business As. I'm considering going under my family's LLC in TX, but I am in FL.
Does anyone know any information about this type of situation? (LLC in one state, and DBA in another)

TIA!

I'm not sure about Florida, but in California a lot of small businesses have filed there LLC in Nevada. Check with your bank to see if they will accept an out of state LLC to open an account.

There shouldn't be a problem with this, but one thing to watch out for is that some states require you to file as an out-of-state entity if your LLC is another state but you do business in their state. For example, if you have a Nevada LLC but do business in California you would still owe the $800/year minimum LLC tax to California as an out-of-state entity, in addition to Nevada's fees.
