I just tried making candy clay with Wilton candy melts and karo syrup, and it's horrible! They syrup separated from the candy, and it's just a wet mess after it has cooled. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong or does anyone have a better recipe? (I used 1/3 cup syrup and one package of candy mets). Thanks!

Sounds like you overworked it. You stir the syrup in fast until it starts to look grainy, then STOP! Now you wrap it up, let it set overnight then knead it into a smooth mass the next day. You can also try some of the other candy clay recipes around, with more syrup added and some even add fondant. Find the one that works for you. Good luck!! icon_biggrin.gif

I've heard some people get bad results with old Wilton candy melts. I usually get the 1 lb almond bark (aka candy coating) from the grocery store (it looks like big blocks of white chocolate) with 1/3 cup of light corn syrup. Don't give up! Candy clay is great!
