Butter but not 'melty? ' A butter and shortening combination buttecream will not melt as easily. Otherwise. you are limited to the melting point of butter- which is low.

find a recipe for italian butter cream. It does not need any shortening. I don't have a recipe myself but I am sure you can find something good on the net.

I use 1 1/2 c shortening and 1/4 c butter per 2 lbs of conf sugar. It doesn't melt.
