Hello!

I would like to make the dartboard cake, and would like to know how to dye the fondant icing pitch black? I'm from Cape Town, and have only seen the white fondant you could buy in shops. Can you only buy the fondant black or what do I use to dye it?

Thank you very much!!

I make my own MMF and I dye it black using Americolor Super Black while it's still liquid. I've read about people adding dark candy melt so that they don't have to add as much food coloring, but I haven't tried it.

You could dye it black using a black paste colour that you should be able to find in any cake supplies shop. However, it's difficult to get the fondant properly black and will most likely come out a dark grey. I would suggest buying black fondant, again you should be able to buy this from a cake supplies shop.
