I've got my first wedding coming up and I'll be adding a few white sugar pearls to half of the cupcakes. I'm not sure how to figure out how many sugar pearls to buy so I have enough. I am planning just a decorative sprinkle of pearls on each cupcake - maybe 8-10 sugar pearls for 90 cupcakes. But sugar pearls are sold in ounces. Any ideas how many I'll need?

This will vary on the size of the sugar pearls you want to use. The smaller the pearls, the more per ounce. Do you know what size you want to use?

The easiest way is to use 1 ounce of pearls and see how many cupcakes you get for the look you are after - then do some simple maths.

Tip- allow 5% for wastage - those little suckers like to do kamimazi's onto the floor

OK - I don't have any 4 mm on hand, but I do have 5 mm. I weighed out one ounce and counted about 250. I imagine that the 4 mm would have slightly more than that.

The ones I weighed are generic sugar dragees with no color. Hope that helps!
