Next week will be my first time carving a cake Plz Help im taking all suggestions and ideas.
Use a good sturdy cake (pound cake, WASC, etc.)
Remove only a little bit at at time....you can always carve more...but it's really hard to put it back!
Someone here on CC suggested this cake recipe for the first cake I carved, (the bass cake in my photos) and it worked great! Like dmo4ab said, remove only a little bit at a time and you should be fine. Can I ask what shape you'll be carving? It might also be a good idea to do a practice run before hand.

Im Carving a car, cake lightening Mcqueen from the Disney Movie and although I could get the car cake pan by wilton i really want to learn how to carve cake! what type of cake pan should i use as far as size and shape?
