Has anyone ever used the upside down icing tecnique with SugarShack's Buttercream? I have problems with the getting the tops of my cakes smooth. I've watched and practiced her DVD tips many times and still have a problem with the tops. TIA

I tried that technique for the first time last week and it was fantastic! However, I was using a cream cheese variation of IndyDebi's icing. I'm using SugarShack's icing for a cake this week and I'm going to see if I can do the upside down method again. What I have used in the past for smooth top is to use the Melvira method.

It works great! When I smooth my icing, I use a the high density roller, a fondant smoother and the viva paper towel. Before I got the viva, I used a piece of computer paper with the fondant smoother and it worked well.
