i just purchased my first container of high ratio shortening (sweetex). I got it home and opened it and it has some gray colored spots in it Sort of streaky...is this normal? I need to use it today or tomorrow but i don't want to if it has gone bad. Help please!!

I've never used that brand before so I can't speak for that, but I do use Hi-Ratio, and mine (CK Brand) is bright white, no spots, no streaking. The first time I bought Hi-Ratio (a mystery brand) it was yellow and smelled and tasted weird icon_confused.gif I never bought that "brand" again. LOL

I use sweetex all the time, its one of the shortenings used in the culinary school that I attend. Its usually all white with no spotting or streaking.
Ive never seen any gray spots or streaking when we have used it. Sounds like it may be going bad.

If possible, I would return it to the place you got it from.
