How do I make vegetable shortening? I LOVE Crisco, always have, but I live in Mexico now, and the closest "Crisco" store is over 1 and 1/2 hours away and the last time I went there, ..., they were out. It seems to me that it is basically whipped vegetable oils. What about home made olive oil shortening? I used to make all of my own mayo fresh. I can almost picture this. Any ideas or is there someone out there that actually knows a recipe?

What about other vegetable shortening brands. copha, solite. I normally make only with butter. But i have heard of these brands as well
