What is the best way to get dark brown for buttercream icing? I am not sure what colors are best to mix to get when starting with white. I tried researching on here but unable to find anything.

Thanks

Have you tried starting with chocolate BC & then coloring it??
Try Americolor Chocolate Brown I'm sure it works great. Remember that BC darkens when it settles especially Americolor gels I find them way more intense than Wilton's

Usually if I need a large amount I will use cocoa powder and make chocolate icing.

If it is a little amount then I use brown gel colors.

This is for a 10 and 6 inch wedding cake. The bride wants brown and pink. I don't believe she wants the chocolate buttercream. I have Americolor Dark Brown but am always concerned about how much to use and if it will change the test/texture. icon_confused.gif

I have found for brown it does take a lot of coloring to make a dark color. Start with a thicker icing so that when you add the color gel it doesn't thin things down too much.
