I'm going to be making a head using the ball pan I have. I would like to make an open mouth, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing this.

To give a general idea, I'm making Oscar the Grouch's head, and I want to make his mouth open. I worry that anything I could do to it will just make it fall apart. From what I'm thinking, I would leave the top part alone, and try to cut of part of the bottom.

How about when it comes to icing it? I would think I would have to ice the mouth portion before putting a layer of buttercream in between for the top and bottom to stick together.

I'm just not entirely sure. I would like to try to do this before deciding to actually do it so I know that I can.
