I am trying to cover a 10" dummy cake with fondant and it keeps cracking and tearing at the edges!!

What can I do - this cake is due tomorrow? icon_sad.gif And it's never happepend before, although this is my first dummy cake! lol

There is a 6" cake going on top (real cake) that I covered with fondant 15 minutes before the 10" (a different tub of fondant but same brand) and it was fine!

Help Pleaseeee! TIA icon_biggrin.gif

If you work a little shortening into it, it might help with the pliability. And, of, course, since it's a dummy, you could roll the fondant a little thicker and that might help prevent the tearing, too. The trouble with dummies is that the edges are so sharp and hard that the fondant can tear much more easily than on a real cake. HTH!

If the shortening doesn't quite do the trick, you can roll another layer of fondant and lie it right over the top of the first one and work it just like you normally would
