I have an order for 1,000 cupcakes. There will be 3 flavors. The icing needs to look like flames. I would like to bake all of them in black liners, but that is open for discussion.

How would I best differentiate the flavors - 1 is chocolate, so I'm not worried about that, but the other 2 are a vanilla cupcake, but one has a filling. I thought maybe doing one of the vanillas with just a buttercream looking flame, and then the filled one with a fondant flame on top of red & orange buttercream, which is also how I plan to finish out the chocolates. Or do you think this isn't obvious enough and I should bake them in orange, red and yellow liners?

These are for a Harry Potter event, so I'm making a huge stand that will be painted to look like Hogwarts castle, and (most of) the cupcakes will be displayed on it, which is why I'd prefer to do the black liners - so as they sit on the display, just the icing is the flame effect (Hogwarts should look like its burning).

But any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
