I would appreciate your feedback & advice for my business start-up ideas. I plan to start a business in CO selling cupcake stands, cake pop stands, and misc. cake decorating equipment. I'm also considering selling cake pops & cupcakes if I can secure an affordable retail location. I may start out as a website retailer to build clients. No one sells reasonably priced
cupcake or cake pop stands locally, and I want to secure this niche & provide a service to local bakers. I can rent a commercial kitchen hourly to prep edibles. I'd appreciate any comments from the veterans on this site. Thanks icon_smile.gif

Interesting idea! I'm not sure a retail storefront would be sustainable, but you could definitely start out online. Selling decorating supplies and cupcakes/cake pops are two very different businesses, so I would advise a separate business plan for each.

Your competition would probably be these guys, as well as Wilton:

http://www.cakepopstand.com

Another avenue would be trying to break into the wholesale market by selling to places like Michaels and Jo-Ann, but you need to make sure your product is differentiated enough to warrant shelf space.

How do you plan on handling manufacturing, will you be doing it in-house or outsourcing it?

I have received a lot of business advice and two things that stand out is
1. GET ONLINE ASAP
2. Read the book the E-Myth
Best of luck
