I wanted to use this recipe for filling a cake (http://cakecentral.com/recipes/16670/updated-french-vanilla-buttercream) but then I found an awesome recipe for a caramel sauce Do you think I could just mix some of the caramel sauce into the buttercream to make it a caramel french vanilla butter cream?

Thanks in advance.

It would depend on how runny your caramel is. If it's very runny, you could sub out the caramel for the liquid in the recipe, but that might not give you enough of a caramel taste. Or you could put a lot of the caramel in and be prepared to add a whole lot more powdered sugar for the consistency. I love to experiment, so I'd say give it a try first with a half recipe of each.
