Can I Substitute Veg. Oil For Canola Oil In Red Velvet?

I am using Martha Stewart's, all oil, no butter and I believe I am going to run short on canola but I do have vegetable. . .TIA! icon_surprised.gif

I dont see why not.

Canola is a vegetable oil, so it should work just fine.

I've substituted veg oil for canola several times with no problems.

Yes, I always use just Veg oil. My red velvet cake gets high praise.

Thanks ladies! Turns out it was extra canola oil I had and not vegetable but still it's good to know for next time! thumbs_up.gif

Glad you were ok for your recipe. We use Cakeman Raven's recipe and his calls for vegetable oil.
