Hi. I'm new to cake decorating - just finished the 2nd Wilton class. Anyways, I've been looking at gumpaste/fondant cutters and I came across JEM Cutter Sets and I was wondering if anyone has used them and what you think of them. Or if anyone has a recommendaton for starter cutters for me. Thank you!! icon_smile.gif

JEM cutters are great. But I tend to buy the particular cutter I need for the cake that I''m doing, so I don't have a recommendation for any particular 'beginners' cutter set. I've used things like the ends of my icing tips to make circles, and my cookie cutters have come in handy too.

I love the Jem alphabet set, but they are possibly the most difficult letter cutters to use, worth it when you get the hang of them though. Tappits are easier, although a lot of people have trouble with them at first. I would recommend you look at 'Windsor Clickstix' - they are ejector alphabet cutters that come in a couple of good fonts and are VERY quick and easy to use.
