I had a free delivery service area. Outside of that, i charged $1.25 per round trip mile, based on mapquest miles and/or time.
Miles .... if it was straight highway.
Time .... if it was backroads, hard to find, thru cities with well-known traffic backups (you ARE going to pay me to sit in traffic).

Make sure you also factor in tolls. I do free delivery in a servicable area. But if I have to go through a toll they are charged for that. Just to deliver a cake to the bronx (less that 5 miles) costs $13 in tolls!
