Has Anyone Ever Done This?

I'm up to my last class, Wilton Cake decorating basics, level 1, and I need to do my final cake. I have Sugarveil, and today,i'm going ot make it up, and so far, it's all good. The lace panel is wider than the cake. I know i can snip it down, but, is it too weird (first class...you know?) to make a 2 layer 8 x 2 inch cake, which would average to about 8 x 4 1/2 inches or even 5 inches, for the final class cake, so I'd not have to cut the lace?

Not that I can't snip the lace, but i think it's pretty. Then I'll learn rose buds, and put a few in the middle, with a shell boarder. Is that too tall of a cake for my final cake? The teacher has no idea of my Sugarveil obsession. icon_rolleyes.gif

As a WMI, the size of the cake doesn't matter. I tell my students their cakes can be single layered, double layered, torted and filled or not. It is all up to them.
