when i tried to do some writing on a cake the other week . i used butter icing but as i tried to write and finish the letter it just pulled up off the cake and would not stick so it looked a mess. was i using wrong icing is it best to use royal icing
When writing, you want to put your tip lightly touching the surface when you first start piping, then left the tip away a little, so you aren't dragging it through the icing. When you get to the end, you will touch the tip back down, stop pipping and pull away.
Regular buttercream should work fine, but since the icing on the cake has crusted, fresh icing doesn't always want to stick to crusted icing with out a little help from us.
