hi everyone,

i'm kinda new to decorating cakes. i tried using regalice fondant and adding 'SUGARFLAIR SUGARCEL CMC. Gum tragacanth substitute' which i bought on ebay, and followed the instructions really carefully, let it rest in the fridge for a few days (wrapped in cling film) and when i came to have a go at making a gum paste rose, it was just ripping and was so soft still. i don't understand! i put more powder in it if than anything to make sure it would set.

i tried this technique because i didn't have a heavy duty mixer, but now i have bought one. so could somebody please tell me a good gumpaste recipe that works and also i'm struggling to find tylose powder in the uk icon_sad.gif

thanks in advance, h x

Check out this video on how to mix your own sugarpaste and CMC/Tylose to make gumpaste. She gives you the correct quantities of each too, and shows you how to store it etc. Don't give up, its not difficult if you follow the instructions!
