I'm making a wedding cake with a western theme and want to do strips of fondant on it that look like leather. What's the best way to achieve this? I don't have an airbrusher so hopefully I can get the look without one. Thanks for any advice anyone has!

Are you looking for tooled leather with a pattern in it or just leather weathered effect? I got the leather effect on the book for my Alice cake by using aluminum foil crumbled, then unfolded and applied like an impression mat. I got that tip here on CC but I can't remember who posted it. For the tooled look I think you would need some kind of item you could use to make the impression. Once made you can mix brown food coloring in vodka, paint it on and wipe off the excess. This will give you the shading in the groves without an airbrush. Hope that helps some.
