I am usually just a lurker here but I have a question that I just can't find the answer to....So, I want to try to make a cake using this technique I found online, the zebra cake, where its basically vertical stripes inside the cake...I am using red velvet cake and white cake, but I can't decide on a filling. Raspberry is out and I am using butter cream for the icing. What would you use for filling? I would prefer something that doesn't need refrigeration but all suggestions are welcome! TIA

Cream cheese buttercream would be fitting since it is red velvet

I've made it before with no problems. I do refrigerate if its going to be a while before delivery, but that's just me. Also the sugar acts as a "preservative" to retard spoilage. From what I could find it is ok to leave out ~4 hours, but I know I've left it out longer with no problems. HTH!
