Has anyone ever done the math to see what is really more affordable to use, containers of egg whites, or just cracking eggs and wasting the yolk? The carton seems expensive, but if you're using a lot, well......

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Where I am I can't get cartons of egg whites, but can get powdered egg white. For me it works out about the same cost as buying eggs and wasting the yolk. So no financial advantage, but it is a lot easier and more convenient to use the powder, plus it reduces salmonella risk if the whites are not being cooked.
