I have a bride who would like 3 tiers of cake, separated by bunches of fresh hydrangea and roses. I've heard hydrangea has cyanide in it.

I was thinking that I could put the hydrangea into dummy cake separators between tiers. Is it safe to have the petals touch the cake?

Any suggestions?

You could cut a waxed paper ring to lay underneath where the flowers will touch. I used to do that if I had concerns about flowers touching icing.

is there anything harmful in the petals/leaves/flowers touching the icing?
