Help! Running Out Of Time--Need Help W/canoli Cream Icing!!

I hope someone can help me! I'm trying to finish a cassata cake for tomorrow morning. I make the canoli cream icing and although it tastes amazing, it's soupy! I used it between the layers, but it keeps running off the sides! I don't know how to stiffen it up without adding too much powedered sugar and making it too sweet!!! Any tips or tricks???? Thanks!
