My parents' anniversary is on Sunday/Easter. It's not a major anniversary as far as numbers go, but I want to make them a small cake - a 6" round, probably double layered but with just icing or maybe chocolate between the layers as my mom isn't big on fruit fillings.

I browsed through some of the Anniversary gallery but most of them are large and for major anniversaries (1, 10, 25, 50, etc). It doesn't really have to be an anniversary theme, but it's hard to just search for "simple cake".

Only thing I've decided is that I'm not covering the cake in fondant. Fondant accents are fine though. Also, I'm decent enough at piping so I could pipe a pattern/design (fairly confident I could do just about anything short of wedding-cake-lace designs).

Any suggestions? I'm just open to whatever ideas might be around. It's funny, I'm good with imagining whimsical, complicated, or excessive designs. But just can't settle on anything when I tell myself I want a "simple" cake.
