I am making some dark violet sugar paste roses this my first attempt. The flower came out fine however it was tricky as the paste kept sticking to my rolling pin and board. So I added more corn flour and they ended up looking quite dusty. The sugar paste manufacturer advises not to use shortening to roll it out. Please can someone help?

Thanks Mel

I don't know why they would say you can't use shortening icon_confused.gif Anyway, if you wait til the flowers are completely dry, you can brush them with a clean dry brush to remove the excess cornflour. If they are still dusty, you can use a very very slightly damp brush to remove (wet it then dry it on paper towel). Still cornflour? Try steaming over a hot kettle or pan of simmering water.
Hope that helps!
