I'm brand new at this and am making a mini cake (along with cupcakes) for a 1st birthday. The theme is butterflies, so I wanted to use the bendable wires in the cake with butterflies on the ends. What do I use? Fondant? Royal icing? and how do I get them to stay on?

Thanks!!

The fondant pieces should stick in the wire okay by themselves but if you need a tiny bit of royal to help, that works too. Good luck!

You could do small flooded icing butterflies made on a wire, or you could do fondant or gumpaste cutouts on wires. When I do the cutouts I use 2 pieces and glue the 2 together with melted chocolate or royal icing with the wire in the center. Good luck!

I'm a recent convert to using chocolate (or candy melts) for this. You melt them and put the the stuff an icing bag and pipe away.
