I'm sure opinions will differ on this question. I'm planning my daughter's wedding in June and am wondering if most people prefer a buttercream type frosting or fondant on their cupcakes. I've always just done some kind of buttercream.

Seems like you could do more decorating to match the wedding colors on fondant.

personally i think butter cream is the best choice, but i LOVE to add little fondant accents like roses or flowers, sugar pearls etc... when it come to a wedding cake i always try to go with fondant, it just looks soooo nice and you can go in so many different directions with it. but cupcakes have lots of options to make them stand out w/out fondant...wrappers, bows around cupcake liners, and then all the pretty accents! thats just my opinion, i do both and just love eating cupcake with butter cream topping! good luck and congratulations to your soon to be bride!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I prefer to eat buttercream. Fondant looks prettier, but who eats all that fondant. Ice your cupcakes with bc and then apply a layer of fondant if you are going for looks.
